General Questions

What are Gel Blasters?

Gel blasters are toy guns that shoot non-toxic, water-based gel balls. These innovative electric guns fire eco-friendly gel balls around 7-8mm in diameter that burst on impact, leaving nothing behind and causing minimal discomfort.

Gel blasters come in various styles and functionalities, ranging from spring-powered pistols to rapid-fire rifles.

They are often used for recreational activities like backyard skirmishes, target practice, and organized gel blaster games. Whether you're a lone sharpshooter or a tactical mastermind, there's a perfect gel blaster for your next soaking adventure.

Why is there ammunition residue in my magazine?

Ammunition residues may remain in the magazine. Thank you for your understanding.

How does a gel blaster work?

Gel blasters use compressed air to propel small, water-based gel balls at high speeds. When they make contact with a surface, the balls disintegrate, leaving behind a small, harmless jelly-like substance.

The mechanism of a gel blaster can vary depending on the type, but the basic principle remains similar:

  • Soaking: The blaster uses super absorbent polymer (SAP) balls, which are soaked in clear water beforehand to reach their full size and soft consistency. This soaking process makes them safe to shoot and reduces the risk of injury upon impact. Make sure you use gel balls specifically designed for gel blaster guns
  • Loading: The balls are loaded into a magazine or reservoir, which feeds them into the firing mechanism. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to avoid any problems during loading.
  • Propulsion: Spring-powered blasters use a compressed spring to launch the gel ball, while electric blasters rely on a motor and gears to achieve the same.
  • Firing: When the trigger is pulled, the mechanism releases the pressure behind the gel ball, propelling it out of the barrel. Each Gel Blaster weapon may have different firing characteristics, such as semi-automatic or burst mode.

Are gel blasters the same as airsoft guns?

Gel blasters and airsoft guns look similar as they are both recreational shooting devices that fire projectiles, but they have key differences in their ammunition, safety and overall experience.

  • Ammunition: Gel blasters use soft, water-absorbent gel balls that are typically 6-8 millimeters in diameter, while airsoft guns typically fire small plastic pellets called BBs, usually 6mm in diameter.
  • Safety: Gel blasters are generally considered safer due to the softer projectiles and lower velocity compared to airsoft guns. Airsoft BBs are solid plastic projectiles that can cause welts or bruises upon impact, especially when shot at close range.
  • Gel balls used in gel blasters burst upon impact, dispersing harmless water, which reduces the risk of injury.

Game and overall experience: Gel Blasters are often seen as a more casual and family-friendly option due to the lower impact and mess factor, while airsoft guns offer a more realistic and intense gameplay experience due to the higher impact and potential for welts. Airsoft fields often have more elaborate obstacles and scenarios for organized games.

Are gel blasters the same as paintball?

If you're seeking a safer experience less likely to result in bruises, gel blaster is the right choice. Despite both firing projectiles, they employ distinct types of ammunition and technologies.

Paintball guns discharge spherical capsules filled with water-soluble dye, which burst upon impact, leaving a colored mark. Gel blasters, on the other hand, fire water-absorbent polymer gel balls that splat upon impact, leaving a small amount of water.

How to maintain a gel blaster?

Like any other airsoft gun, gel blasters require regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This may include cleaning the barrel, lubricating moving components, and replacing worn-out components. It's crucial to consult your gel blaster's manual for precise maintenance guidelines.

    Are gel blasters legal?

In recent years, the popularity of gel blasters, also known as gel guns, electric guns or gelsoft, has surged among enthusiasts and hobbyists worldwide. However, despite being toy guns, their rise in popularity brings a pressing need to understand the legal framework governing their possession, use, and sale. Discover our comprehensive and detailed article on current legislation surrounding gel blasters.

    Are gel blaster guns loud?

Gel blasters may make some noise, but they are generally quieter than other toy guns.

Not as loud as real firearms, the noise from gel blasters comes from the gears and pistons inside the blaster, not the muzzle itself.

For comparison, gel blasters typically produce noise in the range of 70-80 decibels, similar to a vacuum cleaner. In contrast, firearms can reach 140-160 decibels, which can cause hearing damage.

The varying noise levels of different gel blaster brands and models means you can find one that suits your needs.

Gel blasters are certainly a good option for backyard skirmishes or target practice without causing excessive noise disturbance. However, it’s always a good idea to check local regulations and be mindful of noise levels, especially when playing near residential areas.

What are the different types of gel blasters?

  • With a rapid-fire mode requiring less manual operation, electric gel blaster might be your best choice if you crave tactical battles.
  • For players who value a classic feel and prioritize precision, spring-powered gel blasters are a perfect choice.
  • Manual gel blasters are ideal for younger players or those who prefer a more low-key playstyle.
